Breaker is an abstract fluid acrylic work painted on level 2 stretched canvas. The surface measures 8 x 16 and the painted surface extends over the edges of the piece.

The “Senses, Sea and Shores” series of paintings cover a wide range of abstractions of reality. From abstract expressions of human emotion, to things we can find in our gardens or around us, to the ever-changing shapes in moving water.

The range of possibilities is limited only by our imagination and the ability to “see” the real in abstract ways. Following on the ocean and water themes I imagine when I look at a finished work is this piece I named “Breaker”. Every wave that breaks on the beach is as different as every snowflake floating to earth. Every ripple of the rocks in a running brook is unique, So waters fit my notion of “the abstract of realism” - I guess :)

This piece was originally conceived as a view from a beach into the oncoming surf. But after I finished it I started looking at it from all directions and decided it would be better to turn it upside down so it became the seagull’s view of a breaking wave. That’s the fun thing about art isn’t it? The creativity doesn’t stop when the paint dries! “Breaker” also features two of my favorite shades - Phthalo Blue and Phthalo Green. They just seem to work well together - at least in my eye. It measure 8 x 16 on stretched canvas. It would measure approximately 10x18 framed.
