The “Senses, Sea and Shores” series of paintings cover a wide range of abstractions of reality. From abstract expressions of human emotion, to things we can find in our gardens or around us, to the ever-changing shapes in moving water.
The range of possibilities is limited only by our imagination and the ability to “see” the real in abstract ways. For example, gemstones have captivated our admiration for millennia. I imagine long ago someone walking along a beach saw something glistening and decided it was special.
Light Sapphire is an artwork I created to serve two purposes - first was to represent the principal colors in the December birthstone, and be the background for two Zodiac Art expressions - Sagittarius and Capricorn; and second, to be painted in a Small Works form so that it could become part of that family of my art.
Light Sapphire is an acrylic fluid art painting created with the Dutch Pour technique, and enhanced with palette knife pigment movements. It is painted on a level 3 stretched canvas in a small works format. It measures 5x5 inches unframed. The originals in the Small Works genre of my art can be displayed effectively in one of two ways - either framed (I recommend floating frame), or as bookshelf art on a small display easel.
